"There is a vast extent of bog in Templecarn in which fir and other timber are found. Nothing unusual was heard of in connection with these bogs except what has been stated, that cultivated knolls rise out of them. There are very few existing traces of woodlands, if we except those deposited in bogs." (p. 158)
