Text
"All was as still as death, save that on one or two wave-worn rocks, sat as many old women, telling their beads with exemplary devotion. Their conceptions of piety extended to alms asking, in which exercise they appeared not to be novices; but in my instance they were rather deserving, than successful; and to the honour of their memory be it related, their demonstrations of disappointment were moderate and noiseless."
