Text

"The second route [to Lough Derg] leads from Castlederg, past Killeter, on through the district of Aughayarran, and terminates at the ‘cabin,’ or ferry-house. This route leads by a very good road till within view of the lake, when (the same as on the previous route) the pilgrim has to tread the remainder of the way over a well-beaten mountain track. Very many pilgrims from the counties of Derry, Tyrone, and part of Donegal come by this way ; though many others prefer travelling from Castlederg to Pettigo by car."
