“The bell brought the sleepers from their cubicles.
Grey-faced boatmen were getting out a boat.
Mass was said. Another day began.
The penance wheel turned round again.
Pilgrims went out in boats, singing
‘O Fare Thee Well, Lough Derg’ as they waved
Affection to the persecuting stones.”
