"The Pettigo river rises about 5 miles north of Pettigo and runs in a southerly direction about a mile north of the village. It receives the tributary waters of the Omna, which rises in the mountains near Lough Derg and runs in a south easterly direction. After this junction the united stream passes through Pettigo and falls into Lough Erne about a mile south of that place."
