"Turning back from [St. Dabheoc's Seat] to look down on Lough Derg, the aerial view of Station Island is exquisite. I was once so rewarded on a Spring morning - a memorable experience. The air was balmy, wine-like, bog-filtered, the silence broken only by the occasional trilling of larks. It happened to be a very colourful day, rare in this region. Rolling, tawny bogland framed the blue water teased into darker ruffles by the sportive April winds."
